About This Race
The AJC Peachtree Road Race, now the Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race, is the world's largest 10K, drawing more than 60,000 participants each Fourth of July in Atlanta. The 6.2-mile road course runs from Buckhead through Midtown, finishing in Piedmont Park, with spectators lining the famous Cardiac (Hope) Hill near Mile 3. Finishers earn the coveted Peachtree finisher's shirt, which must be collected at the finish line rather than pre-race, preserving the event's tradition of rewarding only those who complete the course.

Runner Tips & Advice 6
Helpful advice from runners who've been there
[Category: weather] July 4th in Atlanta means heat and humidity are major factors. Start hydrating days before the race, wear light-colored, moisture-wicking clothing, and consider a slower pace than usual. Pour water over your head at aid stations and accept any cooling assistance offered by spectators.
[Category: course] The infamous hill around mile 3 is a race-defining challenge. Shorten your stride, maintain effort rather than pace, and don't be afraid to walk if needed. Many experienced Peachtree runners power-walk this section and make up time on the downhill that follows.
[Category: registration] Registration opens in March and sells out quickly. Register immediately when it opens, have your information ready, and consider the lottery system. If you don't get in, monitor for charity entries or consider joining a running group that may have guaranteed spots.
[Category: logistics] Driving and parking are extremely challenging with 60,000 participants. Use MARTA rail system instead—it's efficient, affordable, and drops you near both the start and finish. Plan your route in advance and allow extra time for crowds.
