It’s that time of the year again!  Time to work off all that food we ate at Thanksgiving dinner and come together to raise money for a good cause during the second annual Wobble After the Gobble 5K Run/Walk!

Last year was a tough year for Boy Scout Troop 92.  Only a couple weeks after last year’s inaugural event, Thomas Polis, dedicated Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 92 was tragically killed in a car accident.  Mr Tom, as the boys called him, always had a smile and never stopped asking what he could do to make the boys’ experiences or the troop as a whole better. It is for this reason, we’d like to continue to organize this event in his memory.  

Last year, the funds we raised were used to help send scouts this past August on an amazing trip to participate in the high adventure sailing program out of Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas.  Almost a month after we returned, Hurricane Dorian devastated the Abacos and Grand Bahama Island. The people, who were so gracious and welcoming as we visited their country, have lost almost everything.  The ship we sailed on was also tragically damaged beyond repair. Our first stop was Hope Town, the place where Dorian first made landfall as a category 5 hurricane.

This year all funds that we raise through this 5K will be going to help support hurricane relief efforts in the Bahamas.  We’ve heard some locals say it will take 10 years or more for the islands to fully recover. It’s our hope that we might be able to help reduce that time, even if just a little.
