Fright Noise 0.5k,  the ultimate "race" for those who prefer to pick through the best candy and enjoy the treats.  0.5k in honor of Dwight Poole who loved Halloween.  Dwight would bring his "Fright Noise" DJ act to local clubs this time of year.  He died by suicide on November 26, 2019. Through our parent organization, Silent Noise, Inc., it is our mission to reach out to our community about suicide prevention and awareness.  All proceeds from the event will go to various suicide prevention organizations and Silent Noise, Inc.  While many appear fine on the outside, inside the noise is overpowering. 

We have lowered the price also to $20 - all children under the age of 16 are free (if this confounded thing doesn't work, please don't register them), no charge for four legged creatures - unless it is that dude from Japan that decided he wanted to be a collie - he can pay double - he has it.  

Details - event will again be hosted by our partners at New Oberpfalz Brewing, 121 East Main Street, in Griffith.  Check in and walk up registrations will start at Noon.  Pre-race activities will start at 12:30 pm in the parking lot to the west of the brewery.  Fright Noise 0.5k will start, if you feel like it, at 1 pm.  

This year, for our not so active folks, we are adding a .25k event, as well as the opportunity to participate virtually.  (For those wondering, we are talking about 546 yards for the .5k, 270 yards for the .25, a couple of trips to the beer fridge during the game for the virtual).  

This is a fun event - families, dogs, spouses, significant others are all welcome - the mission is to raise funds for suicide prevention.  Costumes are welcome, please remember this will be a rain or shine event!  Music, games, activities for kids, maybe we will throw some dog treats out there!  Last year over 50 people joined us!  

Post-race activities, pose with the official Fright Noise trophy - we are all winners - will be in the parking lot west of the brewery.  And, of course, the post race celebration at New Oberpfalz.

The route?  Start line in the alley south of the brewery, proceed west to Broad, go south to the fence line, walk along the fence line east to the alley, alley back tothe parking lot.  From the parking lot, go to the entrance of the inner loop, head south to the turn, back to the alley, north to Main, quick turn through the chicane, and back to the alley finish line! 

Not interested or can't make it to the event - hey - you can have a virtual experience - there is an option for virtual - just sign up and let us know (or not) how far you walked during the event.  

We are addressing the need for more rest areas for the weary so we will be putting those areas out on each corner of the course.  Beware - some of these may have required activities to allow you to continue.  

For our participants, what would a race be without the european style 0.5k oval sticker to show your pride in completing the race!  Newly designed for this year!  Photo area, more rest areas, hopefully (if we can secure it) more refreshment breaks.  Bib numbers - we are all #1 - costumes.  We will table for Silent Noise at the event and have wristbands, bracelets, etc...available if anyone would like them.  No t-shirts - Goodwill and Salvation Army have plenty in stock without needing more.  Another swag bag of items!

Post race food - what is more scary (or healthy) than a quality hot dog.  Again, looking at other edible items for the rest stops.
