3rd Annual Olmsted Spooky Spirit Run

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2024

 

Welcome to Race #4 of our 2024 Olmsted Spirit Race Series!  The Third Annual Olmsted Spooky Spirit Run will take place on Sunday, October 13, 2024 @ 6:00PM.  The event day will start with the Kids Costume Fun Run (one lap around the OFHS track) that now also includes the Youth Championship Series 400m Run (Ages 13 and Under.  Explained more below) and then will offer two competitive events (1500m track race and 2-mile race that includes a 0.5 mile trail loop) with an option for a 2-mile walk as well.

Will Brent Hunter defend his Two Race Challenge Championship in 2024? 

Sign up for the 1500m track race and the 2 mile cross country style race and challenge your mind and body!   There is only about a 20 minute break between the two events (depending on how fast you finish as well!)  If you have what it takes to win both of these races you will earn your Giant Pumpkin to take home with you along with $150 cash purse!  This award is available to the overall female and male champions if you take 1st in BOTH races!  This is Open to anyone!  

For our Spirit Series Championship Runners - You can earn bonus points that can help you solidify your standing or bump you up into contention!   Signing up and running both events will earn you 5 bonus points.  If you place in the Top 3 of both events you will earn 10 additional bonus points.   Finally, if you WIN both events, you will earn 20 additional bonus points!!  (All of these bonus points will be added to whatever points you would have earned if you place in the Top 10 Overall in the 2 Mile Race Only.  There is a little bit of a gamble with participating in both and the 1500m race being first!  If you do well in the 1500m race but then do not place in the Top 10 or place in your age groups, you will not earn any points (beside the 5 bonus points for running both events) toward your Series Championship Score!   

 

TENTATIVE RACE DAY SCHEDULE:

6:00PM - Kids Costume Fun Run - Non Competitive 100m and 400m race options (also includes the Youth Series Championship 400 Meter Race)

***IMPORTANT - Please note if you have a child Ages 13 and Under who sign up for the "Adult" races, they can also compete in our new Youth Series Championship or just run the youth races for fun.  The Youth events are included in the adult package if your child is 13 and Under!  A question in your registration will ask you if your child will be participating in the youth events!**** 

6:15PM - 1500m Spooky Sprint

6:37PM - National Anthem

6:40PM - 2-Mile Spooky Spirit Run/Walk

7:25PM - Award

***Appropriate quarter inch spikes may be worn for the 1500 meter Track Race.  

****This is a competitive 1500 meter run.  Please be able to run the entire 1500m in a time under 14 minutes!  Thank you!***

Our 2-mile Spooky Spirit Run/Walk (that includes a 0.5 mile trail loop on OFHS campus) will begin approximately at 6:40PM.  This event is open for ALL ABILITY levels.  Run or walk, it is entirely up to you!  You will start and finish this race under the lights on the OFHS Stadium Track!   Costumes are encouraged on this run/walk!  Best dressed will win a prize!!

 ***2-mile Route map will be included for you to reference.

We are excited to partner with a very worthy Non-Profit Organization!  This year a portion of our race proceeds will be donated to Princesses Against Cancer!

$55 - Oct 1 - Race Day

 

 

Kids Costume Fun Run (Non-Competitive 40m an 400m options for kids, as well as our new Youth Championship Series Run #4 where kids can compete in two divisions and run the 400m dash.  Blue Division is for kids 10 and Under and Gold Division is for Kids 11-13):

$30 - Jan 1 2023 - Sept 30

$35 - Oct 1 - Race Day

Our Two Race Challenge Bundle!  (Includes the 1500m "Spirit Sprint" Track Race and 2-Mile Spooky SpiritRun)

$55 - Now through Sept 30

*** A Saturday Packet Pick Up will be held at a site and time TBD! ***

 

Race Day Packet Pickup and Registration:

 

Sunday, October 13 from 4:30PM- approximately 5:50PM.  There will be a table near the windows looking out into the courtyard in the Olmsted Falls High School Cafe.  Please help us keep our events timeline running smoothly and show up early to pick up your bib.  If you can help it, please do not wait until 5:50PM to show up and pick up.  Thank you!

***This is a 1500m competitive RUN.  You must make an effort to run the entire mile and have a time of under 14 minutes to compete please!

 

2-Mile Spooky Spirit Run/Walk (includes 1 Loop through the Spooky Trail located on OFHS Campus):

 

6:40PM will be the approximate start time!

 

Kids Costume Fun Run (Includes the Youth Championship Series 400 Meter Run) Around OFHS Track:

6:00PM will be the approximate start time!

 

 

 

What You Get With Registration:

 

1 and 2-mile Run and 2-Mile Walk - Your Bib, mini-pumpkin to paint before or after your race

Kids Fun Run - Your Bib, mini-pumpkin to paint before or after race, Finisher Medal

T-shirts are now included with your registration.  You can opt out of receiving a shirt and save $10 on your registration.  

***The deadline to register and be guaranteed to receive our race tee will be Monday, October 1, 2024!***

 

Award Information -

 

The top overall Female and Male finisher in the 1500 meter Track Race will receive an award (a large pumpkin and pair of awesome GOODR Shades!)

 

The top overall Female and Male in the 2-mile Run will receive an award (a large pumpkin and Gift Card to Second Sole Lakewood)

 

The top overall Female/Male in the  2-mile Run in the following age groups will receive an award - 

 

10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

 

THE SPOOKY TWO RACE CHALLENGE!  

 

IF YOU SIGN UP AND RUN BOTH OUR 1500M SPIRIT SPRINT TRACK RACE AND 2-MILE SPOOKY SPIRIT RUN AND WIN THE OVERALL FEMALE OR MALE IN BOTH, YOU WILL RECEIVE $125 CASH!  ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE???  

***FOR THOSE COMPETING IN OUR 2024 SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP, YOU WILL ALSO RECEIVE BONUS POINTS YOU CAN ADD TO YOUR OVERALL SCORE!   

- JUST FOR RUNNING IN BOTH EVENTS (YOU MUST SHOW UP AND RUN BOTH) YOU WILL ADD 5 BONUS POINTS TO YOUR SERIES SCORE!
