PYT 4 Mile Virtual Run

Description

Join us for the inaugural Predict Your Time 4 Miler! This run/walk will be held in-person at Dutch Gap. There is also a virtual option for 2022.

The trails are beginner-friendly. Children age 6 and older and youth are welcome to run this event.

A PYT event means you will run the race without any type of timing device. No phones. No watches. Nothing that will help you stay on your predicted pace.

When you sign in before the race begins, you will predict your time. The runner who finishes closest to their predicted time is the winner. This means finishing first is not a guarantee you will win the race overall. We look at this as leveling the playing field while testing your ability to run by feel. It's a fun challenge and we hope you will enjoy it, too.

Place

Dutch Gap
251 Henricus Park Road
Chester, VA US 23836

Trail course

This will be a wide and mostly flat course. There are rocks scattered throughout and a small section that might be on singletrack due to construction, but the trails are wide enough for a truck so you'll have plenty of room for passing and taking in the sites.

In true irony, the Dutch Gap Conservation Area borders the large ash pond for the largest coal power plant on the east coast. It's bittersweet experience for sure. There is a porta-potty halfway through the loop.

Note: This route is subject to change.

This is a trail race. You must be alert for gravel, roots, rocks, tree limbs, mud, ups, downs, turns and any other challenges of trail running.

Course rules

Course rules are subject to change at the discretion of the race directors.

WATER and REFRESHMENTS: Depending on the weather, there will be one water stop midway. There will also be water/electrolyte drink at the start/finish.

In consideration of the safety of all participants, the following are not allowed on the course during the race: headphones, baby joggers, baby strollers, animals on or off leash, skateboards, inline or roller skates, or bicycles. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, RRRC encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of the PYT 4 Miler.

The race will be timed by the Richmond Road Runners Club. Results will be posted on online on the RRRC website and on this race page (see Results tab).
