Let’s face it what could be more fun than competing in a 5k with your best furry friend? We are thrilled to announce that this year the Shreve Island Elementary PTA will be hosting its first, Dawg Dash where your pet friends are allowed to join the fun–Sorry there are stipulations!

We hope that you’ll not only join us for a morning of racing but also pet education, and even an opportunity to adopt your very own furry friend. For an added convenience, an early morning pick me up of food/coffee vendors will be available as well.

All proceeds from the race will help fund PTA projects at Shreve Island Elementary throughout the school year including new playground equipment, classroom materials, and incentives for our hardworking teachers!

 

BULLDOG/BULLDOG & FURRY FRIEND

The 5K is a 3.1 mile run initially winding behind the school before continuing through the Shreve Island neighborhood. The course will begin and end at the faculty parking lot at the front of Shreve Island Elementary School. It’s flat on wide streets with a few turns and one U-turn back to the school. Hydration stations will be set up at each mile marker. The 5K course will be timed. Medals will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in each category with the top Male and Female runner also receiving an additional prize each. We politely ask that any strollers used on the 5K course start behind the runners/walkers and be used at a walking pace. Also includes: race packet, t-shirt, and doggie bandana (if applicable). 

 

LITTLE PUP

The Fun Run will begin promptly at 8am and is 1 mile in length. The course will begin and end at the faculty parking lot at the front of Shreve Island Elementary School. This is open to ALL runners who would like to participate. It will be untimed. This course is intended for individuals to participate at their comfort and ability level. No awards will be given for the Fun Run. Strollers are allowed on the Fun Run course. Also includes: t-shirt. Doggie bandana available for purchase for an additional purchase via Cheddar Up.

POST RACE

Stick around for light breakfast, kid’s activities, pet education, and fellowship with community partners and other Shreve Island families.

 

Stipulations regarding pet attendance/entry: Please only bring animals that are well-behaved around other animals and people. All animals must remain on a leash at all times (maximum 6 feet). NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES, they can be hazardous in a crowd.
Proof of rabies vaccination required. (Current rabies tag on the collar is sufficient.) Female dogs that are in any stage of heat are prohibited.
Also, please be kind and don't leave poop behind! You must remove any of your animal's waste!

Packet Pick Up Will Be held at Run Wild 9462 Ellerbe Rd, (Next to Kroger)

Friday, March 1st @ 10:00am -5:30pm &

Race Day at Race Site starting at 7:30am.
