Starts Saturday March 11th, 2023

San Antonio, TX

Official Website

Description

Welcome to Texas Water Mission's 3rd Annual Run4Water!

We are glad you're here. Participating in TWM's annual 5K is an opportunity to learn about World Water Day and what is happening at Texas Water Mission to support clean water around the planet. Of course it is also a great time to go outside, get some exercise along the San Antonio River's Mission Reach (or wherever you choose to participate) and support a good cause!  This will be the 30th anniversary of World Water Day, which has been held every March 22 since 1993 to raise awareness about the two billion people living without access to clean, safe water.

To participate, you must register for the run (or walk) on this website (or via the RaceJoy App - see http://www.racejoy.net/). When you sign up you will receive a race number and can download a printable bib with that number.  You can do your 5K anytime from Saturday, March 11, 2023 through midnight Wednesday, March 22nd (World Water Day).  If you are in San Antonio, we encourage you to stop by Texas Water Mission's table at Confluence Park on March 11 - where we will be celebrating World Water Day in conjunction with Celebration Circle's annual Creative Confluence: A Spirited Festival of Nature Music, and Art (https://www.celebrationcircle.org/festival).  You can pick up your t-shirt there. If you are unable to come by on that day, we will mail your shirt to you.

On the day you decide to begin the race (between March 11 and March 22), you will log your start and end times on the RaceJoy app (see http Upon finishing, your results will be logged and we will get your t-shirt out to you! This event can be done by running, walking, skipping, crawling or whatever means you need to - regardless, your registration is changing someone's life with the gift that is safe drinking water!

All funds raised through Run4Water go towards providing safe drinking water to families in need in SE Honduras and the Navajo Nation, USA, where we use innovative methods to get safe drinking water to those who need it, from drilling wells, to rain water cisterns, to in-home filters - whatever is most appropriate to the situation. We also provide health and hygiene education in the communities receiving water and filters. We train people in the geographies where we work to ensure the portability of water, and to maintain the safe water systems.
