Welcome to the City of Hurricane Crush Run to benefit the Meeks Mountain Trail Alliance. Join us on Saturday, February 3rd, for the Crush Run Trail 10 miler, 5k run or hike, and Kids' Run. All proceeds go to support further development and maintenance of Meeks Mountain Trails Alliance.

Race details

Packet pickup will be held on Friday, February 2nd, from 5-7:00 pm and again on Saturday morning from 8-10:00, at Hurricane City Park's big red barn. All race participants in the 10 miler, 5k, and kids' run can pick up their packets at that time.  After 10:00 on Saturday morning, packets will be available for pickup at the starting line in the back of the bowl. There will be signs directing you to the start line.

Bathrooms are available in the park, and portable restrooms will be available at the Start/Finish. 

All races begin in the bowl. You will cross active train tracks to get to the start/finish, so beware and be careful.

Plan for an extra 15 minutes to walk to the start/finish line.  

The 10 miler has a 3-hour time limit, and the last aid station will close at 11:30.

Water and sports drink are available on the course. The 5k will have one aid station, and the 10 miler will have access to an aid station 4 times.

Swag and Finish Line

Every runner gets the MMTA Crush Run swag, tote, and finisher award.  Expect a finish line bonfire, marshmallows, Orange and Grape Crush, and plenty of hot and ready pizza from our friends at Little Caesars. 

Course

The 10 miler, 5k, and Kids Run all begin and end at the new Huntington Federal Shelter at the back of the bowl, which is a 15-minute walk from the parking lot at Hurricane City Park.   Each course will be run on hand-built single-tract trails. Expect it to have rocks, roots, and lots of rolling fun. 

The kids' run is approximately 1 mile and begins at the Huntington Federal Shelter and follows pink flags.

Awards

Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall male and female in the 10 miler and 5k.

Awards for the 1st place Crush Two-Person Teams in the 10 miler and 5k.  

Age group awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over. 

The Kids' Run is a fun run with unique finisher awards. 

Race Hotel

Wingate by Wyndham offers discounted hotel rates for our out-of-town guests.  To book a room, use this link for the discounted rate or please call the Wingate directly at 681-220-2230 and simply say you will be in town for the Crush Run at Meeks Mountain Trails.  King guest rooms are just $99, and Double Queen/Kings are just $105.  

Safety

Safety and EMT will be on call for emergency situations. 

Registration

Registration is limited to 100 runners for the 10 miler and 100 for the 5k.  

Thanks to our generous local sponsors, the early bird pricing for the kids' run is only $10, the 5k is $30, and the 10 miler is $45 until November 30th. Between December 1st and February 1st, registration fees are $10, $40, and $55.  Registrations are final, and there are no refunds.

Meeks Mountain Trail Sustainers receive a 10% discount on their race registration fee. Click here to join and become an MMTA Sustainer or join during race registration.  

Run with your Crush

Enter as a two-person team and compete for the lowest overall time for the 10 miler and 5K.  The two finishing times will be added together to determine the team time.  Pricing will remain the same as above.

Volunteers Needed!

Please use the contact button below to let us know that you'll help on race day, or you can sign up by clicking the "more" menu button located at the top of this page and selecting volunteer. Once you get to the volunteer page, sign up for the position you would like to volunteer for. Volunteers are vital, and we would love to have your help. 

Rules

Please keep our trails clean, and do not litter.  If you take it on the trail, take it off the trail.  

The trails are open to all users during the race, so beware of your surroundings and the hikers, runners, and mountain bikers that may come from ahead or behind of you.  Please, no headphones. 

Please be courteous and polite to all volunteers and your fellow runners.

Refunds and deferrals

This is a winter race in February so expect winter conditions.  There are no refunds and no deferrals.  Please don't ask.
