Light Up The Night (Draft)

Last year we had a number of people that weren't local that wanted to sign up for our glow run, so this year we are creating 2 races.  The regular 2nd annual glow run AND a virtual 5k for those that can't make it to the actual event.  (this will also be a good backup event if we're still in social-distancing mode in September! ...please NO!)

For the VIRTUAL 5k, it's really simple:

1. Sign up for the VIRTUAL 5k     2. Run/walk your 5k (3.1 miles) ANYWHERE YOU WANT! ...Glow gear and lights make it FUN, but it's optional!  3. Email us (at rcwessels@gmail.com) pictures of you completing your run as proof and then we'll send you an official Light Up The Night T-shirt!   

Note:You can complete your virtual 5k anytime before September 26th, we will begin sending out T-shirts in late September once we have them.  All money raised with this event will go to the Moss Brook Church building fund as well!

For our 2nd ANNUAL Light Up The Night glow run:

This is a family friendly community GLOW RUN 5k!  Walkers and runners of all ages are encouraged to bring your lights and your glowiest accessories and toys!  We will be giving prizes (in the 3 categories of Men/Women/Children)  at this event for the racers with the BIGGEST GLOW!  We will have a clock at the finish line for runners' personal reference, but we won't be recording times/ranks for this event.  We will also have glow-toys and glow sticks available for purchase at the race in case you forget to bring your own.

Here is what you get for pre-registering:

1. Lower entry fee (registration at the race is available for $30) 

2. 3 FREE glow  bracelets! (only with pre-registration)*

3. FREE race T-shirt (if registered before September 1st)*

4. One FREE entry into the post-race prize drawing!*

*All of these items will be in your packet during packet pickup.

Packet Pickup will be at 496 High Street in South Paris, Maine from 5-8pm on Friday September 25th, 2020.  This is where you will pick up your race bib, any glow items you bought and your Light Up The Night T-shirt!  Our GLOW STORE will be available during packet pick-up this year, NOT at the actual event!

Race Day festivities will begin at 6pm, which will include same day registration.  The race itself will begin promptly at 7:00pm on Saturday September 26, 2020. Parking will be available on Aldrich Avenue with overflow parking at the Gouin Field complex nearby.  The race itself will start at the old Grover Gundrilling Building near the corner of Aldrich Avenue and Alpine street.  The race will include the walking path from the middle school to the high school. THIS PATH INCLUDES A FEW STAIRS and a ramp. The race will then end back at the old Grover Gundrilling building on Alpine Street (see map).  We will have a water/medical table about midway through the race and volunteers throughout the race to keep everyone heading the right direction.

Following the end of the race we will have our awards ceremony (for our racers with the BIGGEST GLOW!) and a drawing for some great prizes!  EVERY registered racer will have a ticket in the drawing, but you must be present to win!

Light Up The Night is planned as a community-building experience, to bring families closer together and let us interact in a FUN atmosphere! ...but like many race events these days, ALL money made from this event will be going to a great cause!  Moss Brook Church has been a significant part of our community for over 15 years, meeting needs and giving back to the community in many different ways. Right now they're raising funds to buy a building in order to significantly grow the impact they can have on the community. All profits raised through our 5k event will be donated to the Moss Brook Church building fund.
