The National Trust for Scotland is delighted to invite you to join us on Saturday 19th September for the 2020 PIM Running Festival at Crathes Castle.

The tremendously popular PIM Half Marathon at Crathes Castle will start at 12:00 right beside our fairytale-like castle with the route taking you out onto the picturesque country roads to the north and east of the estate grounds. You will head out towards the grounds of a fellow National Trust for Scotland property, Drum Castle, eventually turning and heading back in a loop back towards Crathes and finishing in front of the castle.

Following on from the great success of the event over the last two years, the PIM Children's Race will also feature in the Running Festival, starting at 10:00am, and giving the youngest runners an opportunity to test their skills at a kids' friendly route around the castle grounds.

With the immense popularity of 5k last year, PIM and The National Trust for Scotland are also excited to announnce that this highly enjoyable race will continue in 2020; Our 5k is open to participants of secondary-school age upwards and will begin at 11:00am, taking runners out onto an exciting trail around the forest of Crathes Estate.

As part of the Festival, we will host a family-friendly play area in the South Lawn in front of the castle and the races will be preceeded by a fun-packed warmup.

Race Day Information

Most of the half marathon route is on quiet, tarmac covered roads and there are also a couple of level, off-road farm track sections for a bit of variety. The route is - unusually for this part of the world – relatively flat, the lowest point of the route is at 61 metres above sea level and the highest point at 113 metres; a range of only 52 metres.

The race will start at 12pm with registration from 10.00am.

The 5k race is a picturesque cross-country run starting at 11:00am in front of the castle. The route is to include a tarmac section and will take the participants onto the forest paths around Crathes Estate. Registration for this race opens at 9:00am.*

The Children's race will be a mildly challenging kids' trail run starting and finishing in front of the castle. The race will start at 10am with regaistration opening at 9:00am.**

* **All runners under 16 participating in the Children's and 5k races need to register accompanied by a parent or guardian who will be required to sign parental consent form.
