SWMI RACERS presents the 4th Annual Once Upon A Time 5K in downtown Baroda to benefit the Therapeutic Equestrian Center (TEC)! This chip-timed event starts and finishes in downtown Baroda, across from the Baroda Fire Department. TEC engages the power of horses to challenge people with special needs to build stronger minds, bodies, and spirits.

The unpaved portion in the first mile of the route is now a PAVED ROAD!

No Runsignup Fees!

A VIRTUAL option has been added for non-locals who would like to support the event, or for those who may not be comfortable with large gatherings of people.

FEES:
15 & Over: $25 through July 6; $30 July 7 - Race Day
Ages 7 - 14: $20 through Race Day
Ages 6 & Under $5 *SHIRT NOT INCLUDED* Must register online AND be accompanied by a paid adult

EVENT GIVEAWAYS - PAID REGISTRATIONS INCLUDE:
       Shirt size and availability not guaranteed after July 7
  • In-person participants eligible for Overall and Age Group Awards
NOTE: This is a chip-timed event. Participants registered for the WALK must walk the entire time. If you plan to Walk AND Run/Jog, please register for RUN.

RACE DAY INFO

RACE DAY PARKING - PLEASE DO NOT PARK ALONG THE COURSE ROUTE

  • Do not park on the east side of 1st Street, South of Center Street

  • Do not park on South Street

  • Parking is available on many side lots throughout the Village of Baroda

SAME DAY PACKET PICKUP AND SAME DAY REGISTRATION

Same day registration is only available through the website with payment by credit card.

No cash or checks will be accepted on race day. 

RACE START - 8:30 AM
Portable toilets are located across from Village Hall.

CHIP TIMING

  • This event is timed by Watt's My Time using sustainable, reusable timing chips.
  • Dynamic bib assignment means your bib is assigned when you check-in at the registration table
  • Two reusable timing chips will be attached to your race bib
  • Attach one chip to each of your shoes
  • Pin your race bib to the FRONT of your shirt or shorts

RACE PACKET INFO

  • If you registered early, your race packet will include the shirt size you preselected.
  • 120 custom finisher medals were ordered July 13, and we have reached over 130 participants.
  • If you registered by noon July 18, your packet includes a wristband to receive a finisher medal.
  • Please wear the wristband if you would like to receive your custom finisher medal.
  • If you do not want a finisher medal, let us know at packet pickup so another finisher can receive one.

RACE START:

  • The race will start at 8:30 am with a rolling chip start lasting approximately 5 minutes
  • Each participant's time will start when they cross the start line
  • Please do not crowd at the start line
  • Please allow runners to line up first
  • Walkers and runners who expect to take 30 minutes or more to finish, are asked to allow faster participants start first

WALKERS

  • IF REGISTERED FOR THE 5K WALK YOU MUST WALK THE ENTIRE DISTANCE. 
  • One foot must be on the ground at all times. If both feet are off the ground simultaneously, that is cause for disqualification.
  • Running or jogging is cause for disqualification.

RACE COURSE

  • Spray paint, cones, signs, and volunteers will mark all turns on the course
  • Streets are not closed to traffic. 
  • Cones will mark a lane to run/walk on Ruggles Road and Cleveland Ave.
  • Please remain in those marked areas where available.
  • See the route map with directional arrows below
  • A water station will be provided at the corner of First and South Streets

RACE FINISH:

After crossing the finish line:
  • Stop by the results table to turn in your timing chips and check your finish time
  • Print a label with your race results
  • Participants should check-in at the award table to receive a finisher medal
  • Bottled water and granola bars will be provided
AWARDS AT APPROXIMATELY 9:15 AM
  • Overall Male and Female Finishers in Run and Walk Divisions will receive a trophy
  • 1st and 2nd place in Run Age Groups will receive medals (14&U, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-79, 80+)
  • 1st place in Walk Age Groups will receive medals (14&U, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+)
  • Race results and event photos will be posted online on Runsignup.com, swmiracers.org and Facebook

CUSTOM RACE BIB & MEDAL WHILE SUPPLIES LAST

Participants who registered by noon July 18 are eligible to receive a custom finisher medal.

The first 150 registrants will receive a custom bib.
