If you already registered online or via paper registrations we will just transfer your registration to the new date.  Please know it is safe to give blood and in a health scare such as this, our blood supply will get depleted quickly. The LifeSouth Community Foundation and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers invite you to be a part of the 8th Annual LifeSouth Community Foundation Kids Marathon Hernando and the 5th annual 5K Hernando presented by Oak Hill Hospital. The Kids Marathon and 5K are scheduled for Saturday, October 10th 2020 (rescheduled date) at the Target at Suncoast Crossing (3101 Aerial Way, Brooksville, FL 34604). The 5K will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the Kids Marathon will begin at 9:15 a.m.

Kids Marathon

To participate in the Kids Marathon, kids in kindergarten through eighth grade complete 25 miles one at a time. Each mile can be recorded on the log sheet during the months prior to the marathon. To finish the full marathon, kids will run the last 1.2 miles on October 10th, 2020 at 9:15 a.m. All participants will receive a Kids Marathon Hernando race packet, race number (must be worn on race day), and t-shirt at packet pick-up. Participants who finish the 1.2 miles on Saturday, October 10th will receive a finishers medal. Kids must register in order to participate. Kids Marathon participants may also register for the 5K.

Only one parent or guardian will be permitted to accompany each participant for the Kids Marathon. Parents should not register to run. No adults will receive a Kids Marathon medal or Kids Marathon t-shirt. Other family members and friends are encouraged to attend and cheer on the participants during the run.

5K

All participants will receive a race packet, race number (must be worn on race day), and t-shirt at packet pick-up. Participants who complete the 5K on Saturday, October 10thwill receive a finishers medal. Overall finishers and age group awards for the 5K will be given out at approximately 9:45 a.m. following the Kids Marathon.

Kids Marathon 9:15 am - Open to K-8 students. All abilities.          5K Timed Race 8 am - Open to all ages. All abilities.

Registration Options: Online registrations at www.fivepointsoflife.com /hernando/ Paper registrations can be dropped off at your school front desk or LifeSouth’s office 12395 Cortez Blvd. Brooksville. Include any money associated with the race in an envelope with the registration form and your child’s name on it. Make checks payable to LifeSouth Community Foundation.

Teachers are asked to collect registration forms and fees and turn in to the front desk folder labeled LifeSouth Kids Marathon & 5K at your own school. A representative from LifeSouth will pick up the folders between September 1st- 4th and again October 2nd.  After October 2nd we ask that teachers no longer accept forms and instead direct students and parents to online registration. Students and Parents are welcome to drop registrations and fees at the LifeSouth office until the day before the run at 12395 Cortez Blvd. Brooksville.

Sign in and Packet Pickup:   The only option for packet pickup is DAY OF EVENT starting at 7am. The schools are competing against each other for the most students at the event to win prize money of $500. It is important that you sign in at either the Kids Marathon or 5K depending on the event you are doing.  If you are running the 5K and the kids marathon you only have to sign in at the 5K table and let the attendant know you are running both. 

Kids Marathon- Find the alpha numeric table for the Kids Marathon that corresponds with your last name,  pick up your t-shirt, goodie bag, and sign in to make sure you count toward your schools total student count. You will receive your finisher medal at the finish line. Students do not have to bring their log sheet with them. We base this event on the honor system.

5K timed event- Find the alpha numeric table for the 5K that corresponds with your last name. pick up your t-shirt, goodie bag, race bib number for timed event, and sign in to make sure you count toward your schools total student count. You will receive your finisher medal at the finish line.

There will be refreshments such as fruit, granola bars, and water available for all participants.  Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, tents, and small coolers with water for comfort during the event.

Awards and School Contest:  At 9:40am we will announce the winners of the 5K by category.  The winners will receive a trophy and special gift from the YMCA of Hernando County. We will announce the school with the most total students participating and the school with the highest ratio of students participating/ total students enrolled. The winning school in each category will receive $500. Stick around for the announcement to take pictures with your school.
