Race Description

The 50K is an open road course crossing Louisville from Zachary Taylor Elementary to Atkinson Elementary and finishing at Shelby Park. Participants will have the opportunity to run many differing and unique areas of Louisville throughout the course. Every year we have had amazing love and support from the neighborhoods we are passing through. Many neighbors ask about the race and encourage runners to keep pushing on toward the finish. Participates do need to be aware of traffic throughout the event. The Elevate 5K & Kid's Mile run/walk will start and finish at Shelby Park.

Due to the 50K being an Open Road Course, we ask for the safety of everyone please no strollers, no pets, no headphones or other items which may impair or distract from your surroundings on the course. The decision to use headphones will be at the participates risk. We have gone to great lengths selecting a route that is safe and has sidewalks available for the vast majority of the 50K. Course transitions, road crossings, and minimal shoulder running will require you to be attentive throughout.

A little bit about where Elevate 50K came from:

In 2016, a volunteer (Matt) from Elevate Recreation, a non-profit organization serving the 4th and 5th grade students of Louisville, sought to raise $50K by running a 50K across Louisville connecting many Elevate partner schools. In 2017, Elevate founder Logan along with Matt and Josh (Run The Ville Head Coach) committed to cross Louisville again connecting partner schools. 2018 was the first year we opened the Elevate 50K to the public as well as adding a 5K for those uncomfortable with tackling the 50K distance. In addition to the 50K and 5K we elected to add a Kid’s Mile around Shelby Park for the younger runners.

Cause

This charity run is raising awareness and funding for the mission and vision of Elevate Recreation. Elevates mission is to elevate body, mind, and spirit through mentoring, recreational events, training, camps and retreats. Elevate Website

The Course - Time Limits

50K

50K starts at 7 AM. We ask that all participants be checked into the finish line by 3 PM. This allows for 8 hours to navigate the open road course, which has been walked in under 10 hours, thanks Logan ;). If at any time you choose to stop and not complete the total distance, please report back to the finish line. We want to ensure all runners finish safely and or are clear from the course by 3 PM.

The course is open road, meaning cars will be present and traffic conditions do apply. The course will start at Zachary Taylor Elementary School. The finish will be at Amped near Shelby Park 600 E Oak St, Louisville, KY 40203.

 

5K / Kid’s Mile

5K and Kid’s Mile will be at Amped near Shelby Park  600 E Oak St, Louisville, KY 40203. Starting at 10 AM and 11 AM respectively.

Pacers

50K

For the safety of all participants, we ask that all pacers register for the event and sign the necessary waivers. We want to ensure we have emergency contact information and Check in / Check out for everyone participating.

 

Aid Stations

50K

Many of the partner Elementary schools will be operating as aid stations along the route. You are welcome to have a crew keeping an eye on you, please direct them to the school/schools of choice to keep the roadways clear of any vehicles inhibiting traffic flow. Please inform them they are not allowed to drive alongside you. The course is on open roadways and at no time should vehicles be following or driving alongside the participant. This puts other drivers and the participants in danger. Obviously, but for the sake of stating it, crews can't transport you anywhere while you are in the race.

Crews are allowed, but not necessary.

 

Parking:

The 50K will be parking at Zachary Taylor Elementary School. Transport will be provided back to Zachary Taylor from the finish line.

The 5K will park at AMPED near Shelby Park in Louisville, KY
