The 5th annual Run for the Sun 5K is back and LIVE for 2022 with multiple race options for athletes of all abilities.

• Traditional 5k Race


• ADA Compliant 2k Fun Run/Walk/Wheel


• Virtual 5k for out of towners

All in-person participants will receive race day swag and offers from local business partners regardless of which race they participate in. Virtual race participants are not included in swag.

2022 live event will be on Saturday, June 18th at 9am in Downtown Lafayette!

The traditional 5k race will begin and end near downtown Lafayette, CO. The race will include a portion near Waneka Lake.

The 2k Fun Run/Walk/Wheel will begin approximately 10min after the 5k race. The course is an out-and-back with a loop around John Breaux Park. Note: the west 0.1mi portion of the loop at John Breaux Park includes packed dirt with a slight elevation change.

The virtual 5k race was such a popular offering the past two years, so we will continuing a virtual race option in 2022. Run or walk the distance independently or in small groups with family or friends. Complete the distance between June 13 - 19 as a lead-up to the Summer Solstice! Take photos and submit a 5k take for our unofficial 'records' (optional), but most importantly: have fun!

Registration for the 2022 race is $25 if you run in the live event or $15 if you choose the virtual option (no swag) until April 30th and then the price goes up. Participants receive some awesome race swag while supplies last. Additional donations may also be added as a pass-through to our charity partner, Imagine!
