Inclement Weather Policy

Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event paying special attention to the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds, and extreme temperatures. If necessary, athletes will be made aware of these predictions on the RunFit website: www.irunfit.org so that participants can properly prepare for severe weather during the race as well as possible course alterations. Severe weather updates will also be sent to participants via email, as necessary.

The Race Director will monitor the weather and decide if any action will be taken to modify the race. Possible changes include altering the start time for the race or in extreme situations, cancellation of the event. Please listen closely to all public address announcements at the starting line of the race. Visible lightning will cause the race to be postponed for a minimum of 15 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 15-minute increments. If extreme heat is predicted, extra water will be provided to the athletes, both prior to, during and after the event. The medical team will be alerted that athletes may require additional medical attention during and after the event due to the high temperatures.

Volunteer Information

Volunteers are still needed to help! Please contact RunFit at (505) 217-4774 to volunteer for race day or email: [email protected]

IMPORTANT PARTICIPANT INFORMATION:

We believe that every RunFit participant should play a role in keeping other athletes/participants, volunteers, staff, and spectators safe at the races.  There are four pillars that should guide athlete behavior when we return to racing. They are:

  • Athlete responsibility
  • Respect for other athletes, volunteers, staff, and spectators
  • Athlete self-reliance
  • Observing rules of the road/athlete etiquette

Thank you for doing your part in making sure our return to racing is safe for all.

As an athlete looking out for my safety and the safety of others, I will:

Be Responsible

Stay home if I am sick or have been in contact with someone that is sick.

Be Alert! Read all event communication and signage, as it could contain important information on any new procedures and policies. Follow safety instructions of race announcers and race officials.

  • Respect physical distancing and look for any visual cues like tape, signage, and chalk that mark where I should stand, and how far apart I should be from others.

  • Utilize proper health and hygiene methods for hand washing, hand sanitizing, sneezing, and coughing.

  • Wear a face cover when near others at event venues.

  • Show-up on time or at my assigned time for activities such as athlete check-in, bike and gear check-in, and swim start.

Respect Others

  • Avoid spitting or expelling any other bodily fluids near other athletes, volunteers, staff, or spectators.

  • Give myself and others space

  • Let others know when passing. I will verbalize my intention to pass if it is safe to do so.

Be Self-Reliant

  • Keep my distance. Always give my fellow athletes plenty of space

  • Utilize aid stations only when necessary – Touch only what I need and minimize touchpoints and interaction with volunteers and other athletes.

  • Carry my own fluids and nutrition by using my hydration pack, race belt, or race vest.

  • Minimize my reliance on volunteer assistance at aid stations.

  • Encourage friends and family to spectate safely in low-density zones, observe physical distancing and to stay home if they are sick or feeling unwell.

Observe Athlete Etiquette

  • Thank the volunteers! They are out here to help me achieve my dreams.

  • Consider the safety of others. I will adhere to best practices to protect others.

  • Respect the host community. I am their guest during race day, and I will act like    it.

  • Pay attention to instructions from race officials and city officials.

  • Let faster athletes pass me.

  • Celebrate with others in a no-touch manner.

Lickety Split Ice Cream Run:

The goal of the event is to provide a truly competitive racing experience for the participants while adhering to all CDC social distancing and safety guidelines.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 25th at Mariposa Basin Park (Albuquerque). The race will have a time-trial type set up which will allow runners to start individually or in small groups of associated participants (family member or participants that live together) during designated times between 9:00AM-11:00 AM.  While registering, participants will be asked to select a 10-minute starting time slot.  Participants may begin their race anytime during the selected time slot.  There is a limit of 40 starting positions available for each starting time slot and they are available on a first come, first serve basis.  To maintain safe distancing and traffic control on the racecourse participants must start during their selected starting time slot.  If a starting time is not available, it means it has reached the maximum number of participants for that time slot.  Please do not ask us to make any exceptions, because we will not.  The racecourse will remain open until 12 PM.

Each participant’s start time will be recorded as they cross the starting line.  A list of overall finishing times for all competitors will be continually updated at www.irunfit.org while the race is in progress.   Shortly after 11 AM the final race results along with the Overall and Age Group awards will be posted.  Award winners (Top Overall Male and Female) will be mailed out by Tuesday, July 28, 2020

Participants are required to be completely self-sufficient.  Participants must follow all CDC safe distancing guidelines and adhere to all “6-Feet” away social distancing signs posted throughout the event. Participants must be in good health and symptom free from any illness for at least 2 weeks prior to the event. After picking up their race number and upon approaching the starting line participants are required to immediately begin their race. (Note: No more than 5 participants may start at one time.)  Participants will not be allowed to congregate or conduct any race preparation (warm-ups, stretching, adjusting, or changing apparel, etc.) in the starting area.  Participants should approach the starting line ready to run. Note: Except for passing, participants should always remain on the far right-hand side of the pathway.  Participants passing one another on the course must adhere to “no drafting” rules which include being no closer than 10 feet behind or in front of, or 6 feet beside other competitors at any time.  Before passing participants must be sure they can safely remain 10 feet behind and then 10 feet in front of the participant being overtaken before merging back to the right-hand side of the pathway. Participants may only utilize the pathway.  Participants must follow all instructions of the course marshals and may only cross the intersections/road when instructed to do so by the course volunteers. Failure to adhere to course volunteer instructions and/or crossing at any time other than when instructed will result in an immediate disqualification. Upon completing their run and crossing the finish line participant must continue moving through the finish while maintain 6-feet separation to pick up their participant medal, bottled water, refreshments (packaged) and continue to exit the finish area.  Participants will be required to leave the finish line area and proceed immediately to their vehicle as soon as they complete their race.  No congregating of any type will be permitted either before, during, or after the event.

Note: No congregating of any type will be permitted either before, during, or after the event. No spectators at the start, finish or on the course. Runners only!

Failure to adhere to any of the stated race requirements will result in the immediate disqualification of the participant.

Please keep in mind that your cooperation and adherence to all safe distancing practices is the key to us being able to offer competitive events like this in the foreseeable future.

Thank-a-volunteer campaign!

The Lickety Split Run is fortunate to have some of the friendliest and hardest-working volunteers around. Volunteers help us to ensure you feel welcomed and are fully informed; have a safe, successful, and positive running experience, and more! When you have a chance, give hearty, fun-loving thanks!
