On October 4, 2020, the Charles O. Strickler Transplant Center at the University of Virginia is organizing the first annual “Donor Dash.” This event will be a 4 mile walk/run and a 1 mile “Transplant Trek” fun walk. Race Proceeds benefit the UVA Transplant Center for the importance and awareness of organ donation.
We are honoring the donors, the recipients and all of the families who have been touched by organ donation. Whether you can walk, run or cheer please join us on October 4th.
Until 2017, 40% of Virginians in need of an organ transplant were seeking care outside the commonwealth. UVA’s leadership decided that improving access to care for those in need of a transplant became of utmost importance. With a great team effort, within two years, UVA doubled the number of organ transplants performed per year. The goal is to continue on this growth and quality path until all Virginians in need can get a successful transplant at UVA. Currently over 2400 Virginians are waiting for a lifesaving transplant and approximately 40% of Virginia adults have not registered to be an organ donor.

LOCATION:
Panorama Farms, 300 Panorama Road, Earlysville, VA  22936, Central Virginia’s premier, private, running facility that is home to the UVA cross country / track teams with beautiful panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

START TIME(S):
9:00 am  -  4 Mile Run/Walk
10:15 am -  1 Mile Fun Walk (Please note, the 1 Mile Fun Walk is not a timed event.)

T-SHIRTS:
Commemorative, gender specific, short-sleeve, wicking shirts are guaranteed to those registered by August 31, 2020. Please indicate whether donor recipient, donor family/living donor or friend of transplant.

-Registration fees are nonrefundable or nontransferable.  An entry can only be used for the person registered for the entry.   Entries cannot be deferred to the following year or future event.

DAY OF EVENT ACTIVITIES:
There will be fun activities for all! Food trucks and healthy snacks, photo booth, face painting, slides, DJ, Giant Jenga and much more!

BECOME AN INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISER AND JOIN A FUNDRAISING TEAM:
All registered participants have an opportunity to raise additional funds for the Charles O. Strickler Transplant Center at the University of Virginia. A complimentary, individual, fundraising website is created with each registration. Fundraising incentives are available for both individuals and teams.

            -Raise $400              custom team sign that you can use throughout the event

4 Mile Run/Walk:  TOP MALE & FEMALE FINISHER
4 Mile Run/Walk:  AGE GROUP AWARDS (Male & Female)- 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
1 Mile Fun Walk is not a competitive event. Times and places will not be given. There are no awards for the 1 Mile Walk.

STROLLER POLICY: 
Participants with strollers are welcome at this event. Only the person pushing the stroller must register. Please be reminded that both events are off-road and strollers should be designed to endure a mowed grass course. It is highly recommended that strollers have a tether and hand brake.

PET POLICY:
For the safety of participants please do not bring pets to the event either as a spectator or participant.
