Join us for the 2020 Virtual Reindeer Run presented by Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School! 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fourth Annual Reindeer Run in-person event has been changed to a virtual event that will run from Saturday, December 12, 2020 through Sunday, December 20, 2020. Instead of gathering at Crab Cove in Alameda for one large event, we ask you to join us wherever you may be for the 2020 Virtual SJND Reindeer Run 3-Mile Race.

A virtual race means that you can run or walk anywhere you choose! You can complete your run any day or time that is convenient for you between December 12th and December 20th. Local residents may wish to follow the Crab Cove course mapped out on the scenic shores of Crab Cove in Alameda overlooking the San Francisco Bay or you are welcome to complete the race anywhere that works best for you:  your neighborhood, your local park, or even your treadmill - it’s up to you!

How much is it and what do I get for signing up?  

The virtual event is $20, and you get the following items for being a participant:

• Event T-Shirt


• Finishers medal that doubles as a holiday ornament

Registration fees are non-refundable. If you aren’t able to participate in the race, your fee is considered a donation to SJND athletics.

Benefitting Community Organization

Your participation in the SJND Reindeer Run/Walk will also benefit the Alameda Food Bank. 10% for the proceeds from this event will be donated to the food bank.  Please check out the link below to learn more and how you can help the Alameda Food Bank continue their amazing work!

Packet Pickup

Shirts and medals will be available to pick-up in Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School the week of (date TBD). More details on pickup dates and locations to be announced as soon as information is available. 

A VIRTUAL RACE - What does that mean? 

A virtual race means that you can run or walk anywhere you choose! You can complete your Virtual SJND Reindeer Run between December 12th through 20th. Local residents may wish to follow the Crab Cove course mapped out on the scenic shores of Crab Cove in Alameda overlooking the San Francisco Bay or you may complete the race anywhere that works best for you:  your neighborhood, your local park, or even your treadmill - it’s up to you!

Race times and distances are conveniently tracked on your smartphone using the RaceJoy app (available for IOS and Android). Information about RaceJoy's great features and the download link are available by clicking the RaceJoy tab. (Please note: SJND Reindeer Run will not show up on RaceJoy until about a week before the race’s start date).

If you don’t wish to use the RaceJoy app, you can also enter your miles manually on the “RESULTS” tab.

To enter your miles manually, click on the “RESULTS” tab, then click the red “Submit Virtual Results” button. Look up your registration by First/Last Name, or Email/DOB, then click the red Submit Virtual Results button located under your event. Enter your completion time for your event, and click the "Submit Your time" button, and you're done!

Don’t think you can complete the race in one day? 

No problem! You have *9 days* to complete the distance - just log your miles each day you run using the RaceJoy app (or on the Results page) from the time the race begins on December 12th until December 20th.

Course Reminders

If you choose not to use the Crab Cove course map for the Reindeer Run/Walk, map out your race course where you choose to run ahead of time.

• Please be sure to follow all applicable traffic laws.


• All participants should maintain proper social distancing while running or walking.


• Use caution when using headphones, pushing strollers or running/walking with pets.

Where do I run this event?  Do I race on the annual Crab Cove course?

When do I complete my 5K (3 Mile) race?

You can complete the 3-mile distance any time between December 12 through December 20.  There is no time limit to complete the 3-mile distance.  Submitting your results is optional, but we encourage you to do so!

Take pictures out there! get creative with your finish line – share your images and stories and tag us on social using hashtag #sjndReindeerRun 

We look forward to seeing your name on the results board. Remember that you can run, walk, roll, or skip your distance!

What if I want to participate, but I don’t want to use a device or be in the results at all?

Part of signing up for the event is to give yourself a goal, with the ability to simulate a race and put in your results to see how you stack up.  However, this is optional.  You can participate by signing up on your own, get all of our virtual content and be a part of our social community without downloading the app and uploading your results.  If you want to input your results, but don’t have a device, you will be able to go to our results link and upload your results manually.
